Everything in the free programs sections has been checked for the latest version, added screen shots and made sure the authors page was linked.

Half-life 2 Beware the CounterStrike: Pro SPAM emails
Posted by Machinehead on Tuesday, August 05, 2008 (09:36:33) (195 reads)

Something I found on computerandvideogames.com
A phishing email scam is circulating the internet, asking Steam users to enter their account details in order to receive a free version of CounterStrike: Pro. We've had at least ten between us this morning.

We received the dodgy message this morning, which told us to follow these steps in order to claim our copy of the game:

* Visit the Steam homepage http://www.steampowered.com/.
* Log yourself in by using your Steam Username and Password.
(If you are in a public place, make sure you are the only one that sees your account information)
* After logging in you wil get an activation code, copy the code and move on to the next step.
* You will now have to choose between ATI & nVIDIA.
* After clicking on the ATI or nVIDIA logo, you will be asked for the activation code (So make sure you have copied the code)
* After following all this steps, your game is now activated on your Steam account.
You can now go to the 'Games' tab on Steam and download your free version of CounterStrike : Pro.

Unfortunately, the link to the Steam homepage isn't legit. Links provided to the CVG team took us to both a fake Steam website and a porn portal that our web browser (and IT / HR department) had a hissy fit over.

We advise you to delete the email if you receive it. Unless you want your credit card information to spill out all over the underground of the interweb. Which of course you don't.

Site News Downloads
Posted by Machinehead on Monday, August 04, 2008 (20:24:59) (176 reads)

The downloads are working but the screen shots were lost in the move. I still need to check the programs section for updated versions. All the old server packs were removed so they can be updated also. There was 15 new maps added to the servers over the weekend and the new pack was added to the downloads section.
Grab the pack here
